NDP Data Access Service

The Data Access Service (DAS) provides quick, up-to-date information on a patient’s medications and allergies.

About the Data Access Service

When a user asks for information about their medication and allergies via the MyCare.scot app, the app launches a request using the person’s Community Health Index (CHI). The DAS then retrieves this data from the Emergency Care Summary (ECS) and immediately sends the information to the user.

The DAS is also known as:

  • Care Summary Service
  • Medications & Allergies (M&A)

How the Data Access Service works

The DAS retrieves information from ECS in real time and sends it to the requester. The tool does not store or manage data locally.

This service is fast, reliable and easy to integrate with other NDP services.

Differences between the Data Access and the Data Storage Services

The DAS is not the same as the Data Storage Service (DSS). The DSS offers information about:

  • appointments and letters
  • dermatology
  • MDDH (Medical Devices Data Hub)

Who the Data Access Service is for

Through the MyCare.scot app, users can see updated information about their:

  • medication
  • allergies

If there’s an integration between DAS and other NDP services, those services can access the patient’s medication and allergy information.

Status, service level and current usage

The DAS is currently In Production.

All our services have specific standards that determine their availability and the speed at which we address any problem.
